I have been involved for the last 25 years in identifying and testing genetic markers for selective breeding for stress and disease resistance; the models are poultry, sheep and cattle with special emphasis on poultry. New genetic markers were found and used to identify resistant individuals. I have recently been involved in gene identification in cancer and some other inherited diseases research. A grant was obtained from the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for a project on: Identification and Conservation of Animal Genetic Resources and the Establishment of a Gene Bank in Iraq.
From my new abode in the UK, I am seeking to secure suitable funding to: 1) Resume research in genetic resistance and the application of research results in fieldwork associated with production companies and scientific establishments. 2) Write a book.
